Learn How to Manage Your Mind, Body, and Life in One Place
Every successful adventurer needs a command center, a home base. The great journey of your life is no different. There are so many systems out there for management, from journals and whiteboards to apps and flowcharts. Ultimately, it’s up to you to create a headquarters that works for you. We have one ready for you in the Equipment, CNQR Command. But if you’d like to design or discover your own, there are a few best practices we recommend you follow.
Put Your Mind, Body, and Life Into One System
Many people have multiple systems all across the board. For instance, the to-do list for your work is in a separate journal than your grocery list for that evening. Sometimes it is nice to have that separation, but many times we know what happens: work takes priority and our personal life gets swept away. By keeping your tasks for your mind, body, and life in one place, you have a better chance of remaining balanced. Plus, your entire world seems much more manageable when it is all collected and connected.
Focus on Metrics and Tracking
Your money needs to be managed. Your nutrition needs to be managed. Your learning needs to be managed. It may seem like overkill, but when we stop tracking a specific habit before it is engrained in our system, we quit. Even after you feel like a master with your daily schedule, there is no better feeling than adding a few minutes onto your meditation count or checking routine tasks off the list.
Always Be Revising
If something works flawlessly for you, great. But if you struggle to stay on top of your system or start losing track of tasks, make a change. Don’t be afraid to create something unique or even a little crazy. If it works, it’s not crazy! As you search out new systems, beware of marketing. There are a few cool productivity hacks you can integrate we will discuss later on, but most of the time those “ten productivity tips” articles are just regurgitated information that you knew already.
Moving Forward
“What gets measured, gets managed.” -Peter Drucker. If you have struggled to continue with your habits in the past, potentially it’s because you didn’t have the big-picture system in place. Even if you don’t meditate for a few days in a row, marking a 0 down each day is powerful. You don’t just give up and forget. Every day is a new opportunity to improve that number.
In the mission, we will walk you through a process to set up and track your entire mind, body, and life. In the Elite Equipment, you can download CNQR Command, an incredibly versatile spreadsheet to get started with right away.
I currently use a combination of a Bullet Journal and a Hipster “PDA.” I’ve tweaked the system for years. Sometimes having everything in one place can make it overwhelming when you’re trying to find something, particularly in an analog system. I always enjoy seeing what helps others and giving their methods a try.
Like the Lambda Patrick. Good choice.
Thanks! Why’d you say that? 🙂
Just like the symbol of Sparta showing up.
Ah, I gotcha! I chose it for my blog, sovereignlogos.wordpress.com
We at CNQR want to know: how do you currently manage your day-to-day? Do you think combining your mind, body, and life into one trackable system might be more helpful?
I was thinking ‘What gets measured, gets managed’ as I started reading this. I currently use Evernote as a repository for notes, ideas and lists. I have tried to use the Getting Things Done system but I regularly fall off the wagon. It will be good to read through the mission and equipment as there are so many tools out there it is hard to pick and stick to one.
